The Tokyo International Forum will once again provide the stage for the Jitac European Textile Fair, in a market in which Portuguese companies wish to consolidate their presence.

Lemar, a regular presence in this market, has had rather positive participations. «This is a growing market, where we have quite an interesting client portfolio», said Fátima Silva, administrative assistant at Lemar. Specialising in fabrics with yarn dyed stripes, it will be presenting its new fall/winter collection, in which laminated fabrics with collages, new finishes, new prints and heavy stripes occupy a prominent place. «Our main objectives are to establish new contacts and consolidate already existing ones», she added.

Flannels and types of Viyella with delavé yarns are the highlights that Texser is bringing to Japan. «This fair is part of our global expansion plan, which was defined around 3 years back. We wish to consolidate our brand among Japanese clients», said José António Ferreira, the company’s export director.

Riopele – Têxteis S.A., Somelos Tecidos and Troficolor Denim Makers will also be part of the Portuguese committee that will travel to the Japanese capital, and will be returning to this event.

The participation of 5 Portuguese companies in another edition of Jitac European Textile Fair is organised by From Portugal 2015-2016, an initiative promoted by the Associação Selectiva Moda and by ATP – Associação Têxtil e Vestuário de Portugal (Association of Textiles and Clothing of Portugal), which aims to promote the internationalisation of Portuguese companies in the fashion area. The From Portugal 2015-2016 project is financed by Portugal 2020, under Compete 2020 - Operational Programme for Competitiveness and Internationalisation. The value of eligible support totals EUR 13,051,072.83 of which EUR 7,210,717.74 are provided by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund.
