The city of fashion hosts the 23rd edition of the Milano Unica fair from 6 to 8 September. Italy's preferred fair will have ten Portuguese companies, four of which supported by Associação Selectiva Moda, under the From Portugal internationalisation project.

Albano Morgado – J Areal Artigos Têxteis – Lemar – Sanmartin – are the four Portuguese companies traveling to Milan. With a portfolio of proposals where diversity is the watchword, the Portuguese offer for autumn/winter 2017/18 is defined by design, innovation and quality of the fabrics made in Portugal.

Knitted fabrics are presented in the Italian market by J. Areal Artigos Têxteis, which is debuting at this fair. For his part, Albano Morgado, specialist in wool fabrics, presents its collection which highlights “100% wool fabrics combined with an assortment of mixed colours present in the most varied designs, continue to be the main focus for this season”

Lemar, specialist in beachwear fabrics, presents its collection for the next cold season. Laminated fabrics with collages, new finishes, new prints and heavy stripes occupy a prominent place. “We basically aim to obtain new contacts but to also welcome existing customers, in an attempt to increase turnover”, states Fátima Silva management assistant of the company.

The participation of Sanmartin, an habitual presence at this fair, at Milano Unica is very important. “This will be the 6th time we are participating in the fair and we are excitedly looking forward to its start, as many of our current and potential customers showed great interest in visiting us in Milan” states Alexandre Leitão, marketing manager of the company. It is a collection characterised by its cosmopolitan character, where lace, embroidery with stones, embroidered tulle, gimped yarns, jacquards, applications and prints are the main highlight. “We hope to obtain a positive reaction from our clients to our new winter collection. Milano Unica is a good opportunity for attracting new customers, thereby strengthening Sanmartin’s presence as an important player in the fashion sector and international haute couture”, he adds.

6 other Portuguese companies will also exhibit at this fair: Paulo de Oliveira – Penteadora – Riopele - Tessimax Lanifícios – Somelos Tecidos – TMG.

The participation of 4 Portuguese companies in another Milano Unica event is organised by From Portugal 2015-2016, an initiative promoted by Selectiva Moda Association and by ATP – Associação Têxtil e Vestuário de Portugal (Association of Textiles and Clothing of Portugal), which aims to promote the internationalisation of Portuguese companies in the fashion area. The From Portugal 2015-2016 project is financed by Portugal 2020, under Compete 2020 - Operational Programme for Competitiveness and Internationalisation. The value of eligible support totals EUR 13,051,072.83 of which EUR 7,210,717.74 are provided by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund.
