PORTUGUESE CHILDREN'S WEAR RETURNS TO THE BIG APPLE

Children's wear made-in Portugal returns to Children’s Club, in New York, as part of an initiative organised by Associação Selectiva Moda, under the From Portugal internationalization project. From 31 July to 2 August, four Portuguese companies: Dr. Kid - Girandola - Risca de Giz - Vandoma, shall exhibit at The Javits Center.

The Children’s Club, fair is the largest and most prestigious event dedicated exclusively to children's wear that takes place in the US market. The presented collections focus on the 0-12 years age group as well as shoes and accessories.

The Portuguese delegation, supported by Associação Selectiva Moda, is composed of four national companies: Dr. KidGirandolaRisca de GizVandoma, which take the made-in Portugal trends for the season to the US market, where elegance, beauty, comfort and quality of materials are the watchwords!

Dr. Kid is returning to New York, with a presentation under the slogan "Light as a summer breeze". The particular highlights are the floral prints, Polk Dots and smooth canvases animated by fluttering butterflies, which give the collection a touch of fantasy. In terms of colours, navy and red hold a prominent place, which along with cerulean blue create new combinations, renewing the classic nautical theme. Pastel shades are used in the themes of the "Newborn" universe and for more sophisticated party themes. The nobility of the materials is ensured by the strong presence of cotton and linen. «This is the ideal environment to strengthen relations with this market and create new business opportunities. Taking part in Children’s Club reinforces the brand’s growth strategies, since this is a market with enormous potential», explains Liliana Ferraz, marketing manager of the company.

Vandoma has very positive expectations for its debut in this market. «The company is confident this debut in the U.S.A. We will present our collection for summer 2017, ties, bows, scarves and other neckwear for children and babies», says Ana Sousa, manager of the company.

Children’s Club is organised by ENK. It is a trade fair in New York with four annual editions, January, March, August and October. It exhibits the main novelties of children's fashion, for the 0-12 years age group, in clothing, footwear and accessories. 

The participation of 4 Portuguese companies in another Children’s Club event is organised by From Portugal 2015-2016, an initiative promoted by Selectiva Moda Association and by ATP – Associação Têxtil e Vestuário de Portugal (Association of Textiles and Clothing of Portugal), which aims to promote the internationalisation of Portuguese companies in the fashion area. The From Portugal 2015-2016 project is financed by Portugal 2020, under Compete 2020 - Operational Programme for Competitiveness and Internationalisation. The value of eligible support totals EUR 13,051,072.83 of which EUR 7,210,717.74 are provided by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund.
