PORTUGUESE FABRICS INVADE MUNICH

From 1 to 3 September, the German city of Munich will again host the Munich Fabric Start show. For three days, 13 Portuguese companies - A.Sampaio&Filhos Têxteis – Albano Morgado – Burel Factory – Lemar – Living Colours& A Fiandeira – Luís Azevedo & Filhos Lda. – Lurdes Sampaio – Quick Code – SanMartin – Sidónios Knitwear – Texser – Tintex – Troficolor - will present their fabrics, which will mark trends for the next autumn/winter 16/17 season. An initiative implemented by the Associação Selectiva Moda, under the auspices of the From Portugal internationalisation project.

The Germans are not indifferent to the quality and design of Portuguese fabrics, and as such, demand for fabrics made in Portugal has been growing significantly, making the presence of Portuguese companies at the Munich Fabric Start show an inevitable feature of the calendar of international fairs.

Back in Munich, Texser/Têxtil Serzedelo has invested in a “collection of blouses fabrics in line with the cool season, the highlights are which are flannels and vyellas with fantasies”, reveals José António, the company’s export customer manager, who considers that this fair has grown a lot and has become a prominent event. “This fair has grown substantially and is now a leading event”, he stresses.

Tintex Textiles, which has made a habit of attending this event, presents several eco-friendly products much in demand in this market. “Mercerised, eco-friendly and coating are the featured products that will be on display. By participating in this event, we intend not only to consolidate our presence, but also to expand our operations in this market”, explains Mário Jorge, general manager of the company.

The highlight of A. Sampaio & Filhos Têxteis, SA’s autumn/winter 16/17 collection is “wool blends, such as cotton, silk and lyocell, spacer knitwear and fantasy jacquards”, sets out João Mendes, manager of the company. “Our objectives are to strengthen our presence in this market and reach new customers”, he adds.

Fourteen more Portuguese companies will also attend: Adalberto Estampados – Familitex Tecelagem Lda. – Gierlings Velpor – OPS Operative Textile Solutions – Paulo de Oliveira – Penteadora – Riopele – Somelos Tecidos – Tessimax Lanifício – Teviz by Polopique – TMG Textiles – Trimalhas – Vilarinho – Vilartex .

The participation of 13 Portuguese companies in another Munich Fabric Start show is an initiative promoted by the Associação Selectiva Moda co-financed by the European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF) under the POCI (Operational Competitiveness and Internationalisation Programme), Portugal 2020 and COMPETE 2020. The FROM PORTUGAL project consists of around 81 international initiatives that take place in the 2nd half of 2015 and 2016 covering the entire textile and fashion industry, spread across four continents, with a total investment of over 13 million euros.
