From 5 to 8 August, the North American city of Salt Lake City receives another Outdoor Retailer Summer Market, which brings together the main producers of outdoor sports equipment. Three companies will travel there from Portugal – Faria da Costa – Fiorima – Nordstark – as members of the Portuguese commission, led by the Associação Selectiva Moda, under the auspices of the From Portugal project.

From Portugal will enter this market for the first time, organised by the Associação Selectiva Moda, in partnership with Citeve. “There are three companies exhibiting at the next “Outdoor Retailer Summer Market” - Faria da Costa, Fiorima and Nordstark - in the first collective approach of FROM PORTUGAL to that North American fair. CITEVE will accompany these companies, following a strategy of prospecting and also to present the ASM’s “From Portugal” project to the event’s organisers, in order to identify opportunities and conditions for the future development of this initiative. It should be noted that this is the largest outdoor sports fair outside Europe, and the major global players in this sector are exhibiting”, explains Helder Rosendo, Deputy Director-General of Citeve.

Turning again to the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market, Faria da Costa will be participating in the event for the 3rd time, the first time under the auspices of the From Portugal project. “This will be our third time participating, hoping that it will result in new business opportunities, given that it is a very attractive market, but one which, at the same time, is difficult to enter”, explains Nuno Costa, manager of the company. On show will be a collection with the key market trends, particularly Faria da Costa’s most recent innovation, socks with active heating “WYFEET”.

Making its debut at this event, Nordstark leaves for this event with a positive attitude and high expectations. “This is a fair with the most important brands, with the latest outdoor products where we can show the technical qualities of our equipment and help optimise the sporting performance of many customers. It is the perfect platform for presenting the high levels of quality and workmanship in NORDSTARK’s technical clothing range”, states Inês Brito, communication designer of the company. Among the products on display, technical clothing for various market segments is of particular interest, including sport and high-end fashion.

The participation of the three portuguese companies in one more Outdoor Retailer edition is an initiative promoted by the Selectiva Moda Association, co-financed by the EU Structural and Investment Funds as part of the Operational Programme for Competitiveness and Internationalisation (POCI), Portugal 2020, and COMPETE 2020. The FROM PORTUGAL project is made up of approximately 81 international activities which take place in the second half of 2015 and in 2016, covering the entire textile and fashion industry and spread over four continents, with a total investment of over 13 million euros.
