Portuguese companies take to London collections that are noted for their high quality and innovative design. On show will be a preview of Autumn/Winter 2016 collections and highlights of the Spring/Summer 2017 collection.

Alcino Gonçalves, manager of Eurobotónia, considers The London Textile Fair “one of the fairs that best promotes new manufacturing accessories" and shows the new Autumn/Winter 2016 collection of buttons in this edition.  Attracting new customers and increasing exports are the company’s major objectives.

Lemar is one of the regular participants in this event and aims to "increase our customer portfolio and obtain new contacts", says Fátima Silva, administrative assistant of the company. Focus on shiny fabrics, vinyl, graphic prints and contrasting stripes as well as a small pre-collection of swimwear for 2017.

Specialised in making bags, the textile company, Luís Azevedo & Filhos SA, takes to London the major trends of its 16/17 Autumn/Winter collection, which is characterised by its rich materials structures (jacquards with embossments and very pronounced structures) and very noble raw materials and is focused on organic structures and materials like a second skin. The colour range varies between neutrals and some bursts of colours and pastel shades for children. "The English market is of great interest to Luís Azevedo & Filhos due to the many different business opportunities it represents. This is the third time we have participated in this fair and our hopes are increasing as we expect a rise in the number of visitors", explains Sílvia Azevedo, the company's manager.

The aim of NGS Malhas, which is not a newcomer to the London fair, is to increase and reinforce turnover. Rich forms and mixtures and structured fabrics are the highlights of this collection.

Imprimis by Gulbena arrived in the United Kingdom with a collection focused on knitwear/patterned fabrics in natural fibres like, lyocell, modal, viscose and cotton and a mixture of all of these, combined with a latent digital printing technology. The company's main aim is to "increase our turnover and consolidate our position in this market", says Raquel Pereira, one of the company's vendors.

Texser/Têxtil Serzedelo has considered the United Kingdom a strategic market for many years and intends to "consolidate its position in this market", says José António, the company's export customer manager. Focus on wool-blended fabrics, which will play a major role in the winter collection.

The London Textile Fair has over 380 exhibitors from 22 European countries and expects around 5000 visitors for this edition. The fair is divided into four major areas, with exhibitors in the following sectors: textiles, accessories and trims, printing studios and vintage clothing.

The participation of the seventeen portuguese companies in one more The London Textile Fair edition is an initiative promoted by the Selectiva Moda Association, co-financed by the EU Structural and Investment Funds as part of the Operational Programme for Competitiveness and Internationalisation (POCI), Portugal 2020, and COMPETE 2020. The FROM PORTUGAL project is made up of approximately 81 international activities which take place in the second half of 2015 and in 2016, covering the entire textile and fashion industry and spread over four continents, with a total investment of over 13 million euros.
