Burel Factory, Fitecom, Lemar and Troficolor are the Portuguese companies that make up the FROM PORTUGAL delegation, and that together with the Portuguese companies Adalberto, Paulo de Oliveira, Riopele and Tessimax will be present, from March 22nd to 24th, in another edition of the Jitac European Textile Fair, in Tokyo, Japan.

Presenting its SS 23 collection, Troficolor is excited to participate in yet another edition of the Japanese event, considered by Ana Maria Magalhães, the company’s export sales manager, “a market full of brands of great notoriety and prestige”. “JITAC is, without a doubt, an important channel to contact this market with whom, for many years, we maintain good commercial relations. Our expectations are to expand our business volume, either through the new customers or in the strengthening and monitoring of the relationships with the current ones”, she adds.

In a clear commitment to circularity, Troficolor will present at JITAC a wide range of Denim and PPT (ready-to-dye) articles with different structures, compositions and weights, where more than 60% of the articles are sustainable. “For this season, we highlight natural fibres such as flax, and fabrics with a blend of organic cotton and hemp, 100% organic cotton denim with mineral dyeing and, for denim purists our Selvedge range, which includes 100% organic cotton denim with vegetal indigo”, reveals the export sales manager of the company.

Lemar, also marking its presence at JITAC for several editions now, already has “a defined profile with customers”, explains José António Ferreira, market manager. As for what will be presented in Tokyo, Lemar's market manager talks about “fabrics produced with more sustainable and certified fibres, the backbone of the collection. Stripes (very sought after in this market), plain or prints will be offered with recycled and/or biodegradable yarns, so that we can all contribute to a lower environmental impact”.

Adalberto, which has been participating in JITAC since 2019 through an agent, believes that this event is “an opportunity to present the company and its products, and access customers with whom we have not yet worked”, considers Tâmara Martins, from the company’s sales department. In addition to the collection of designs for Summer 2023, Adalberto will present sustainable raw materials and finishes.

Fitecom, in line with the enthusiasm of the other Portuguese companies, considers JITAC to be “a prestigious trade show” in which the company has successfully participated since 2017, states João Carvalho, CEO of the company. “It is a direct gateway for European fabrics to enter the Japanese market, namely for our upper-middle market segment”, adds the CEO of Fitecom, which takes to Tokyo noble fabrics made with natural and biodegradable fibres, and also a range of recycled synthetic fibres.

The participation of Portuguese SME companies in JITAC is an initiative of Associação Selectiva Moda and ATP – The Portuguese textile and Clothing Association, which aims to promote the internationalization of Portuguese companies in the fashion area. The “From Portugal” project is co-financed by Portugal 2020, within the scope of Compete 2020 - Operational Program for Competitiveness and Internationalization, and Lisbon 2020 - Lisbon Regional Operational Program, with an eligible support amount of €6,648,794.78 , of which €3,735,305.80 come from the European Union, through the European Regional Development Fund.
