PORTUGUESE SOUL IN PARIS

Home Concept’s bed lining with minimal but sophisticated lines, Têxteis Íris’ linen tablecloth with damask and Vianatece’s artisanal and ecological tartufos recreate, in a singular showcase, the spirit of the Portuguese nation.

Three Portuguese companies show in this edition of Maison & Objet the most recent collections for the house, from bed to table, in an exhibition where the soul and its deflections have a central place.

Fabric wastes gained a new life on the hand looms of Vianatece (hall 2, stand F85), that from the scraps of sweaters and other apparel creates true works of art handmade, with tartufo – rugs and plaids made in an artisanal way – highlighting textures and colours capable of bring joy to any space. «The spotlight in terms of product is tartufo, in a colour range that was extended to coral, pink and royal blue – nowadays we have already 30 tones», unveils Sérgio Peixoto, manager of Viantece. The company, that exports to the whole world, from Europe to Japan, shows also the braid line, whose most recent novelty is the baby’s carrycot.

At Home Concept (hall 2, stand E73), the new collection privileges jacquards, brilliant satins and linen to create a bed that reflects the soul itself. «Moved by the passion to each time present different, special and unique solutions, yet practical, easy to use and perfect to every home, Home Concept designed a collection of remarkably simple and minimal lines, but very luxurious and attractive», explains Ricardo Lemos, administrator of António de Almeida & Filhos, the company which holds the brand Home Concept. The white, grey, blue and lime tones paint a quiet and peaceful environment.

At Têxteis Íris (hall 2, stand H102|101), the leitmotiv is «pure linen». The company, which produces home textiles in linen, from bedroom to bathroom and including curtains, strengths its bet on linen tablecloths with the Portuguese damask, one of the best-sellers. «We rescue from the past the genuine techniques of linen with damask, giving it timeless lightness and softness, with irresistible graphics, culminating in an harmonious line of tablecloths, placemats and center pieces, that naturally awaken sensations from other times», says David Sousa, administrator of Têxteis Íris.

The participation of the Portuguese companies at Maison & Objet is an initiative promoted by Associação Selectiva Moda with the support of European funds (Qren), under the project From Portugal. This project includes more than 60 international actions planned for 2013, which cover the entire textile and fashion chain, divided by four continents: Europe, Asia, Africa and America.
