MUNICH FABRIC START WELCOMES A STRONG DETAIL FROM PORTUGAL

6Dias, Bloomati by Carvema, Fitecom, GPSA | TMG Textiles, Iberis, Lemar, MMRA, Modelmalhas Internacional, MTV Belts, Sanmartin, Texser, Top Trends, and Troficolor Denim Makers are the companies that make up the FROM PORTUGAL delegation, which is joined by the Portuguese companies Paulo de Oliveira and Somelos, to be present at another edition of MUNICH FABRIC START taking place from January 23rd to 25th in Munich, Germany.

Considered one of the largest textile fairs at the European level, MUNICH FABRIC START is back with a vast portfolio of international fabrics and accessories, but also a sourcing area. Around 1,100 international exhibitors will present solutions for the Spring Summer 25 season, with emphasis on the FROM PORTUGAL delegation.

With a focus on sustainability, Bloomati will return for its seventh participation in an event where “we always manage to establish good contacts and discover new products”, explains Márcia Maciel from the marketing department. “We have sustainable news with special finishes. We present new knitwear with organic cotton and recycled polyester and a new special Soft recycled Booster finish: an innovative treatment that redefines sustainable comfort”, adds, noting that in addition to the German market, Bloomati hopes to receive buyers from all over Europe.

Who also wants to welcome customers from all over Europe (and beyond) is MMRA. According to Patrícia de Andrade, export sales at the company, “people are starting to circulate more, travel more, and companies can enter new markets and customers". Improving its location at MUNICH FABRIC START over the ten years in which it has participated in the German event, MMRA will present in this edition “100% recycled knitwear made with the reuse of fibers (in one knit we can have cotton, polyester, viscose among other fibers) which in the end gives a 100% sustainable article and in terms of dyeing we also get interesting results between mixed colors and solid colors”, says Patrícia de Andrade who also explains the mixtures of recycled viscose, organic Supima cotton, hemp, linen, organic cotton and nettle that will be on display in Munich.

With the hope of improvements about the last edition of the German fabric fair, which Patrícias Dias, administrator of 6 Dias, considers having been “quite stopped”, the Portuguese company is back to present many new features. “The star of this collection is the eco denim and new sustainable ones (orange and nettle fiber)”, reveals. In addition to the traditional European markets, 6Dias hopes in this edition of MUNICH FABRIC STAR to re-strengthen ties with potential buyers from Scandinavia and the United States of America. “We intend to prospect for new customers and maintain and grow existing ones”, summarizes.

After a break, Texser is back and has not participated in the German fair since 2019. “We decided to participate in Munich Fabric Start as part of a commercial strategy to cover more markets and raise awareness of the company”, explains Paulo Loureiro, commercial director. With the expectation of developing partnerships with the German market and Northern European countries, Texser will present a collection around the theme of recycled, organic and natural fibers “highlighting mixtures of hemp, linen, Tencel”. “We will also present some developments made with recycled Indigo with a process [that allows] a reduction in time, water, and energy consumption that translates into a 42% reduction in CO2 emissions”, adds Paulo Loureiro.

With a strong strategy of participating in international fairs, Troficolor returns to Munich as it is “a fair very visited by customers from the German market and also from other countries in central Europe”, explains Daniel Azevedo. To reinforce already established commercial relationships and seek new customers, Troficolor Denim Makers presents a collection dedicated to the principles of Responsibility and Transparency at the SS 25 season. “Based on these assumptions, for the new SS25 collection, we present a diversity of fabric proposals produced with sustainable fibers, such as BCI cotton, organic cotton with GOTS / OCS certification, recycled cotton, and polyester with GRS / RCS certification, Tencel, regenerated cellulose, Linen and Hemp, as well as natural dyeing processes such as vegetable indigo and mineral dyeing”, reveals Daniel Azevedo, who also highlights the concepts of ECRU (variety of fabrics ready to use their natural color) and Upcycling (reuse creation of existing fabrics) developed by Troficolor.

Without hiding the remarkable changes that the world is experiencing, Modelmalhas will once again present itself at MUNICH FABRIC START with the theme of Transition. “This collection celebrates the beauty of change, combining elements of innovation, sustainability, and comfort. Natural and sustainable materials were the materials of choice, such as organic cotton and fibers of vegetable origin. We also present innovative textures and finishes, such as meshes with volume and relief, designs with transparencies and opacities in the same structure and lots of fiber shine”, reveals Cidália Senra from the commercial department.

A sustainable and innovative collection, similar to what Fitecom proposes, which hopes to find “men and women fashion customers in the upper-middle segment” in Munich, says João Carvalho, CEO. Without hiding that MUNICH FABRIC START is “one of the gateways to the market”, João Carvalho hopes that this edition will once again bring positive results for Fitecom, which has been participating in the event since 2007.

Sourcing, a more recent area of MUNICH FABRIC START, once again counts on the participation of Top Trends, which returns to Munich to “monitor existing customers in the German and border markets. In a very succinct way, it is to consolidate and reinforce, with new customers, the German and peripheral markets”, says Daniel Simões, general manager of the Barcelos company. As for the new features, Daniel Simões highlights the raw materials and the service associated with the entire process. “It is not enough to produce and sell a high-quality product if the associated service does not correspond. In this sense, for Top Trends, the quality product produced must be associated with a service of the highest quality. With Top Trends having two production sectors, one for circular knit clothing and the other for fabric, we offer a wide range of products. In knitwear, we are strong in Polos, hoodies, joggers, t-shirts, and shorts. Regarding fabrics, we are remarkable in shirts, pants, shorts, jackets, dresses, blouses”, concludes.

The participation of Portuguese SME companies in MUNICH FABRIC START is an initiative by Selectiva Moda and ATP – Associação Têxtil e Vestuário de Portugal, which aims to promote the internationalization of Portuguese companies in the Fashion sector. The “From Portugal” project is co-financed by the European Union, within the scope of Portugal 2030, through the Compete 2030 – Innovation and Digital Transition thematic program.
