PREMIÈRE VISION NEW YORK SHOWS THE SS25 FASHION TRENDS

Brito Knitting, Bold Design Studio, Crispim Abreu, Casa da Malha, Lemar, and Troficolor are the companies in the FROM PORTUGAL delegation, which are joined by Paulo de Oliveira, participating in another edition of Première Vision New York, to be held on January 17th and 18th at Tribeca Rooftop + 360°, in New York.

On the 17th and 18th of January, New York will host another edition of Première Vision dedicated to fashion for professionals. It will mark the first Première Vision event of the year 2024. At a new space, the Tribeca Rooftop + 360° in the most cosmopolitan city in the United States, the event will unveil the major trends in the Spring-Summer 25 collections. Portugal is represented in this relevant fashion event, thus contributing to dictating international trends and optimizing the use of materials and processes that are increasingly sustainable.

This is the case of Troficolor, which returns after a long period without participating because “we know it is fair with exhibitors from all over the world, but the visitors are mostly from the United States... so we hope to, in addition to solidifying relationships with American customers that we have been following for a few years, we hope to establish new contacts with a wide range of value-added customers”, explains Ana Maria Magalhães, Export Sales Manager.

With an interest in the United States market and strengthening relations with Canada, Troficolor Denim Makers presents a collection dedicated to the principles of Responsibility and Transparency in the SS 25 season. “Based on these assumptions, for the new SS25 collection, we present a diversity of fabric proposals produced with sustainable fibers, such as BCI cotton, organic cotton with GOTS/OCS certification, recycled cotton, and polyester with GRS/RCS certification, TencelTM, regenerated cellulose, Linen and Hemp, as well as natural dyeing processes such as vegetable indigo and mineral dyeing”, reveals Ana Maria Magalhães who also highlights the concepts of ECRU (variety of fabrics ready to use their natural color) and Upcycling (creative reuse of existing fabrics) developed by Troficolor.

Casa da Malha also believes that participating in Première Vision New York can contribute to expanding commercial relationships with North American customers, which hopes to “find a very diverse audience”, considers Mariana Moreira. “However, given the products we are going to display, we will try to channel our efforts towards a medium/high segment type of customer”.

As for the news for the Spring Summer 25 season, Casa da Malha highlights, in the words of Mariana Moreira, “several premium and renewable raw materials, among which we highlight merino wool, regenerative cotton, extra long fiber cotton, PLA, cellulosic (such as ECOVERO viscose, TENCEL, fiber, circulose), hemp and bio-based elastane”.

With more experience at PV NY, at least half a dozen years, Crispim Abreu returns to a fair that considers “very positive, where we learn a lot and where we can better understand the preferences of the northern market American". The words are from João Abreu, who does not hide, however, that this is a “challenging market where Portugal is not yet the first choice, and that is why we need to work hard to show our value”.

With a strong focus on sustainability, considered by João Abreu as a “given”, Crispim Abreu brings to New York a Spring Summer 25 collection that reflects “great attention to fashion trends, with a great emphasis on the most technical products with differentiated finishes, where we optimize the combination between fashion and sustainability, both in terms of materials and processes”, concludes.

Also returning is Lemar, with its presence at this event seeks to “boost the positioning of the Lemar brand in the USA and thus reach new customers”, explains Rita Fonseca. “In a commercial culture as pragmatic as the USA, where mastery of product and process engineering is fundamental, we focus our offer on fabrics with innovative and sustainable fibers”, concludes.

The participation of Portuguese SME companies in PV New York is an initiative by Selectiva Moda and ATP – Associação Têxtil e Vestuário de Portugal, which aims to promote the internationalization of Portuguese companies in the Fashion area. The “From Portugal” project is co-financed by the European Union, within the scope of Portugal 2030, through the Compete 2030 – Innovation and Digital Transition thematic program.
