THE LONDON TEXTILE FAIR WELCOMES SOLID FROM POR-TUGAL COMMITTEE

6Dias, Albano Morgado, Anbievolution, Bloomati by Carvema, Burel Factory, Fitecom, Lemar, LMA, TMG Textiles, Troficolor Denim Makers and Vilarinho, to which the Portuguese Adalberto Têxtil Solutions also joins, are the companies in the FROM PORTUGAL delegation participating in another edition of The London Textile Fair to be held from the 4th to the 5th of September, at the Business Design Center (Islington), in London.

Experienced in participating in The London Textile Fair, it is with good prospects that the FROM PORTUGAL delegation returns to its usual presence at the London event. The two main objectives of Portuguese companies are meeting British customers again and present-ing new products for the Autumn-Winter 24/25 season.

Albano Morgado, who has already participated in the London Textile Fair for around eight years, declares Baltazar Lopes, “the results are always positive”. “We have several solid clients today for Albano Morgado that we met precisely at this fair, so we make a point of being present at all editions, maintaining our position in the market, meeting our clients, and establishing new contacts”, enumerates. Regarding the new products in Lon-don, Baltazar Lopes highlights the range of eco-wools with fabrics developed without chem-icals, with remarkable emphasis on 100% articles with new designs and bright colors.

Also prioritizing participation in the London event is Fitecom, for whom this market repre-sents around 20% of the global turnover. “We have grown steadily in England. Last year, we grew by around 5%. This year, we expect an increase of around 10%”, reveals opti-mistically João Carvalho, CEO of Fitecom. Recently certified with the RWS (Responsible Wool Standard) and GRS (Global Recycled Standard) certifications, both related to good en-vironmental practices, the company based in Covilhã promises to present in London articles that reflect “the enormous investment and commitment that the Fitecom is concerned with sustainability”, concludes.

Less confident is Burel Factory, for whom 2023 is bringing remarkable challenges. “We have recorded an effective drop, well below what we predicted for this year. So, de-spite being hopeful, we are cautious in this participation in London”, assumes Isabel Costa, CEO of Burel Factory. The company participated in The London Textile Fair for sever-al years, but only in the winter edition. This year, it will bring its collection based on natural dyes previously presented at the Paris event. “We continue to invest in our distinctive product, burel, to which we continue to add new developments in terms of technology and finishes. We have an increasing range to respond to market demands and con-cerns. In addition to burel, we continue to invest in bouclé and other woolen products that set us apart”, adds.

With a focus on recycled, sustainable, and biodegradable fibers, Lemar returns confidently for another participation in the London Textile Fair. “It is a very relevant market for us. It occupies between 1st and 2nd place, and we know that most customers do not travel to other fairs, so it is imperative that we go to this event”, says Flávio Dias, export sales at the company. With several meetings already scheduled, Lemar hopes to “strengthen the relationship with regular customers and open doors to potential new British custom-ers”.

Participating in The London Textile Fair for approximately a decade, Troficolor Denim Makers returns to the London event with the aim of “on the one hand consolidating the relationship with our customers and finding new buyers”, says Ana Magalhães, former port sales director. “It’s a fair where contact with the customer is very close. And, to that extent, very favorable to effective business”, adds. Regarding the collection, Ana Magalhães states that Troficolor is continuing the already long path developed within the scope of sustainable practices, with solutions ranging from organic cotton to recycled cot-ton. “Above all, we offer durable items that minimize consumption. We are also pre-senting our upcycling range that reuses materials using the same logic of minimizing consumption and ensuring a longer life cycle of materials”, concludes.

The participation of Portuguese SMEs in THE LONDON TEXTILE FAIR is an initiative of Selectiva Moda and ATP - Portuguese Textile and Clothing Association, which aims to promote the internationalization of Portuguese companies in the textile sector. This fair is in the From Portugal project, within the scope of the application submitted to the Portugal 2030 joint internationalization projects.
