MILANO UNICA WELCOMES THIRTEEN PORTUGUESE COMPANIES

Albano Morgado, Casa da Malha CFM, Fitecom, Lemar, Magma Têxtil, Matias Araújo, MGL and Sidónios, joined by the Portuguese companies Paulo de Oliveira, Penteadora, Somelos and Riopele, are the companies from the FROM PORTUGAL committee to participate in yet another edition of MILANO UNICA from the 11th to the 13th of July in Milan, Italy.

Considered by many to be the benchmark fair in the sector, partly because it takes place in Milan, the city of Italian fashion, MILANO UNICA returns for another important edition. With it, as usual, she takes a strong and motivated Portuguese entourage made up of a thirteen companies.

Taking part in MILANO UNICA since the 1980s for TMG Textiles is an unavoidable event for several reasons. “The presence at the fair is, above all, a meeting point with our customers. A key moment for main innovation and differentiating factors of our AW24 collection”, says Pedro Silva, R&D+ Manager of the Portuguese company. TMG believes that the “growing interest in fixing the supply network in Europe to the detriment of Asia” could still be an advantage for Portuguese businessmen.

Among the novelties, TMG highlights the Vitrivius collection, which “proposes to remaster the TMG classics through modernization and digital optimization. For this, the same principles identified by the Roman architect Vitruvius Pollio as fundamental for vigorous structuring will be used: stability, utility, and beauty. The combination of new regenerated cellulosic fibers will be part of the central theme of the collection, as well as the incorporation of a new generation of recycled materials, aimed at different alternatives in the area of sustainability, which, in harmony with the developments in differentiating natural fibers, will allow for a new nature of the TMG collection”, concludes.

Recognizing the “innovation in sustainable fabrics” proposed in all editions of MILANO UNICA, Lemar returns to the event in which it has participated for over ten years. “Since the Italian market is one of our main areas of business, we selected proposals for Milan with the most innovative fibers on the market and which place us at the forefront of this context”, explains Flávio Dias. “In this particular edition, we will present the new ranges made with yarns from the brands BIOCARE, BY NATURE, EVO, QCYCLE, and CI-CLO”, adds.

Elected by CFM as “the most important international event to present collections and meet brands, Italian and international producers” MILANO UNICA is already a certainty for the Portuguese company. With more than a dozen participations, CFM expects, according to Francisco Rosas, to find Italian, French, American, and Canadian clients and also buyers from Northern Europe. “As always, new developments favor sustainable, recycled materials”, also reveals.

Matias Araújo is debuting with great perspectives and, according to Carla Silva, “participating in the fair can offer the opportunity to establish valuable commercial contacts, find new clients, and expand our business network”. For this reason, the company, which also participated in the last edition of PV Paris, has a collection that promises to attract the attention of potential customers in Europe. “The theme of our AW25 collection this year is 'Nature Inspire Us!'”.

As we have been announcing, Matias & Araújo has been developing new products and processes over the last few years to substantially improve our footprint on the environment, through the circular economy model, with the recycling of all textile waste and by researching new manufacturing processes for knitwear using natural fibers and treatments. This season will be marked by the launch of a complex range of fashion knits that, in addition to being ecological, will stand out for their design, texture, and essential quality/innovation”, concludes.

Also making its debut at MILANO UNICA is Magma Têxtil, whose main objective is to capture potential Italian customers. “The Italian market is known for its know-how and great quality. In this way, we want to position our company as capable of responding to the needs of the great Italian brands and other international names that the fair brings together”, defends Joana Guimarães.

As for the collection, Magma Têxtil will present solutions “with different recycled fibers to promote and raise customer interest, as they are materials that guarantee greater sustainability by not needing to resort to new raw materials production. We are going to present a novelty in our sports collection with the use of Dry Release fiber with moisture management properties. Warm touches with unusual fibers like Lyocell knits with a tricot look and vintage look, structured and comfortable ribs, high-quality fibers like Merino Wool and Cashmere, and compositions with Seacell, Bamboo, Hemp, and various Lenzing fibers. Not being new, we like to underline our focus on the quality of the products we present in response to a medium and high range sector where we want to stand out”, adds Joana Guimarães.

The participation of Portuguese SMEs in MILANO UNICA is an initiative of Seletiva Moda and ATP - Portuguese Textile and Clothing Association, which aims to promote the internationalization of Portuguese companies in the textile sector. This fair is included in the From Portugal project, within the scope of the application submitted to the Portugal 2030 joint internationalization projects.
