BRANDBIAS AT ISPO MUNICH ONLINE WITH EYES SET ON NORDIC COUNTRIES

Participating in ISPO since 2012, Brandbias will be present at the fair’s next edition, which this year will be done through digital platforms. At the event, mainly focused on sportswear, the company is betting on sustainable garments, with GOTS and STeP certifications, to strengthen ties with Northern European brands.

“Our main assets are sustainability and versatility”, said Pedro Machado, a creative in the company. “We try to work mainly with certified knits and fabrics, which offer guarantees to customers. Flexibility is another plus: we make men's, women's or children's clothing, and we allow for low minimum quantities in orders, making it possible to work with customers that have smaller collections”, he explains.

The strategy is especially thought out with Northern Europe customers in mind, a strategic region for Brandbias. The company already has customers in Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. "GOTS and STeP certifications, for example, are very much in demand in these markets", stated the company representative.

With a team of 21 employees and an average production of 120 thousand pieces per year, Brandbias focuses mainly on casual clothing and sportswear, with fitness clothing - gym or running garments - as one of its main vectors. The company even had some products in the race for the iTechStyle Awards, the main innovation awards of the Portuguese textile industry.

During the course of 2020, the company started producing protective masks, not only through its own brand Brandbias, but also in a private label regime, which allowed the company to survive during the pandemic crisis, and end the year even with an increase in production. “From this point of view, it was even advantageous, because we had an increase in orders. Fortunately, we were also able to always maintain security measures strictly and effectively, with no cases affecting the team. In terms of production, it was a positive year”, summarizes the company’s representative.

The participation of Portuguese SME companies in ISPO Munich Online is framed by the From Portugal project, an initiative of Selectiva Moda and ATP - Textile and Clothing Association of Portugal, which aims to promote the internationalization of Portuguese companies in the fashion area. The “From Portugal” project is co-financed by Portugal 2020, within the scope of Compete 2020 - Operational Program for Competitiveness and Internationalization.
