From classic fashion to streetwear, beachwear, footwear or accessories, the Portuguese industry shows once more in Madrid how it is an essential part of the main international fashion trends. From April 6th to 8th, the Made in Portugal fashion and design will be present at Momad, the sector’s main Spanish fair, where more than 15 thousand professionals are expected, including designers, buyers, businessmen and journalists.

Concreto, Cristina Barros, Christina Félix, Kalisson|Bagoraz|Le Cabestan, Kitess, Loco Luxo, Maloka|Paul Brial| G’OZE, Marita Moreno, Philomena, Scusi and Skulk make up the From Portugal entourage, which will be accompanied by Lion of Porches. With the certainty of signing new contacts in the international market, the Portuguese brands seek to stand out for their boldness and by their vast catalogue of novelties.

“This event is very important in terms of fashion. Above all, we are going to be present to support our partners on the ground, creating added value for the brand and its notoriety”, explains José Brito, Scusi representative. Specialized in women's fashion, the Barcelos brand will launch new models and has already meetings scheduled with prominent buyers. "We are very optimistic. We have been growing very gradually in the Spanish market, and we have a local partner who has been doing a very solid job", adds the company’s representative.

Skulk will also present a new collection, with well-defined commercial goals. "The presence of Skulk in this edition of Momad will be mainly focused on presenting the brand’s new collection to investors and buyers from multi-brand stores, as well as from investors who want to bet on the Franchising program", explain Vasco Oliveira and Orlando Maciel , managing partners of Pura Alternativa, the company that owns the brand. Specialized in urban wear, Skulk is focused on the new Fall/Winter 2020/21 line, which is seen by the brand as one of the “most iconic ever”. "It will be very good to exhibit and publicize the quality of the made in Portugal products on an international stage", add the company representatives.

“Spain is our main market, and our goal is to strengthen our presence in this country”, explains Marcial Martins, representative of Christina Félix, a premium fashion brand for women. Also with a new winter collection - the jackets are one of the brand’s trademarks - the Christina Félix team already has meetings scheduled with local buyers, and hopes to increase the volume of sales to Spain.

Expectations are also high at Marita Moreno's stand. Last year - the first time it participated in the event - the brand was bestowed with the “Fashion, Sustainability and Business” award, given by the fair's organizers, and this year the big challenge will be to maintain the upward course. “The spotlight will be placed on our brand, because of the prize”, summarizes Marita Setas Ferro, CEO and designer of the brand. “We will present the FW2021 collection, which is inspired by the meaning of life and the belief in humanity”, announces the designer. The brand will present a new collection of bags, backpacks, shoes, sneakers and other accessories, made mainly from sustainable materials, such as cork, pinatex (obtained from pineapple leaves), recycled microfibre and bio-leather.

The Portuguese companies participation in Momad is an initiative of Selectiva Moda and ATP - Textile and Clothing Association of Portugal, which aims to promote the internationalization of Portuguese fashion companies. The project “From Portugal” is co-financed by Portugal 2020, under Compete 2020 - Operational Program for Competitiveness and Internationalization, with an eligible support amount of €11.042.311,82, of which €6.065.501,91 comes through the European Regional Development Fund.
