CITY OF LIGHTS HOSTS PORTUGUESE CREATIVITY

Eleven Portuguese companies will be setting out for the City of Light - Ana Sousa – Ballentina – Blackspider – Cheyenne – Cityberia – Cristina Barros – Givec – Luís Buchinho – Maloka – Paula Alexandra Oliveira – Tiffosi - to publicise Portuguese proposals and trends for the coming cold season. This initiative is promoted by the Selectiva Moda Association, within the internationalisation project From Portugal.

From 25 to 28 January, the fashion industry will be meeting in Paris for another edition of Who’s Next, which will take place in Porte de Versailles. Under the banner "Le Jouet", the Parisian salon is presented in this edition with a reorganized layout in the major sectors.

Ana Sousa – Ballentina – Blackspider – Cheyenne – Cityberia – Cristina Barros – Givec – Luís Buchinho – Maloka – Paula Alexandra Oliveira – Tiffosi – are the eleven companies making up the Portuguese delegation travelling to Paris, as part of the internationalisation project From Portugal, an initiative promoted by the Selectiva Moda Association, with the support of the NSRF and Compete.

Made in Portugal ladies fashion is represented by: Ana Sousa, Ballentina, Cityberia, Cristina Barros, Givec and Maloka. The latter is making its debut in Who's Next with a collection composed of a palette of warm colours, with vibrant, bright prints softened by neutral shades. Knitwear has a key role in this collection, thanks to its versatility. «We want to find new international markets and consolidate the French market, where we have already been for several years», says Felicidade Carvalho, the company's sales agent.

Ana Sousa is in Paris for the second time, and presents Ana Sousa Be Woman for the Autumn/Winter 2014/15, a collection with a strong link between technology and handicraft. The brand combines innovation and technology and features in the collection a line of speciality products, including – Jeans Spa Lose&Fit. These are jeans patented exclusively for the Ana Sousa label and help you lose accumulated fat and achieve a sculptural silhouette, a true slimming spa! «Our expectations are very positive, and we are very confident. First we want to verify the level of acceptance of the next Autumn/Winter 2014/15 collection, and then continue to strengthen the French market, as well as the other markets», says Nuno Sousa, the company's marketing director.

In the Jeanswear area, there are two Portuguese brands: Cheyenne and Tiffosi.
«The choice of Who's Next has to do with the fact that it is a key event with regard to fashion, where all the major brands are present. In attending this event, we will be projecting the name Cheyenne in the European market as well as in other continents, since the show attracts people from all over the world to the French capital», Ana Costa, marketing manager of Cheyenne explains. The collection to be presented by Cheyenne will highlight technical fabrics, the mix of materials (fur with synthetic leather), asymmetrical cuts, and prints with glitter and animal motifs.

Blackspider, also attending Who’s Next for the second time, offers a complete range of clothing and accessories for men and women.

Designer fashion will be taken by Luís Buchinho and Paula Alexandra Oliveira. The former will features pieces with strong silhouettes, designed for life in the city, always presenting an urban side and a practical side. For her part, Paula Alexandra Oliveira, will present a ladies' collection, composed of pieces with a modern design, a casual chic style to use day-to-day or on more formal occasions. The fabrics used are manufactured employing a unique handcrafted process.

The participation of Portuguese companies in Who's Next is an initiative promoted by the Selectiva Moda Association with the support of EU funds (NSRF), under the project From Portugal, and is part of a series of more than 65 international activities planned for 2014, covering the entire textile and fashion range, spread over four continents - Europe, Asia, Africa and America - with a total investment of 9 million euros.
