From 21 to 23 January, seven Portuguese textile companies will be at the largest trade fair in Latin America – Colombiatex. Adalberto Estampados – Ad Style – Bedasi – Lemar – Lipaco – Natcal – Rendibor – are the seven companies that will be heading to Colombia with the support of the Selectiva Moda Association, under the internationalisation project From Portugal.

Colombiatex de las Americas is organised by Inexmoda, and has been positioning itself as the most important event in the textile sector in Latin America. Medelín, known as the city of eternal Spring, will host the 26th edition of this three-day event, in which Made in Portugal will be strongly represented.

AD Style, making its debut here, chose Colombia for its first approach to the South American market. «Our presence at Colombiatex will be a good starting point for presenting our product base, and to get to know the South American market, in terms of both supply and demand», says Jorge Machado, the company's manager. «We'll be displaying a quite modest range of products, representing their very own identity with a careful choice of raw materials, particularly the digitally printed silk, polyester and viscose», he added.

Lemar, which considers this a very interesting market, will also be in Colombia for the first time. «We've had contacts with Colombian clients in other fairs, and we thought it important that they visit us at this show. It's an interesting market, especially for bath fabrics and fabrics for casual wear», says Fátima Silva, the company's Assistant Manager. In the collection we'll be presenting, we'll be highlighting plain, striped, checkered, printed and eyelet net bath fabrics.

In the search for new markets, we'll be presenting Bedasi Jeans for the first time in Colombia. «We're looking for new markets with a favourable economic potential», says Ricardo Barros, head of the company. This collection focuses particularly on denim, twill and corduroy fabrics.

The participation of Portuguese companies in Colombiatex is an initiative promoted by the Selectiva Moda Association with the support of EU funds (NSRF), under the project From Portugal, and is part of a series of more than 65 international activities planned for 2014, covering the entire textile and fashion sector, spread over four continents - Europe, Asia, Africa and America - with a total investment of 9 million euros.
