There are three Portuguese names present at the 14th edition of Texmed – Lipaco – Lunartex – Solinhas – sponsored by the Selectiva Moda Association, as part of the From Portugal project. From 02 to 04 October, Tunis will become a meeting place for the players from the textile and clothing industry of the Mediterranean region and Europe, in an event that is extremely important for the African market.

This participation enjoys the partnership of CITEVE Tecnologia Têxtil, which has a broad knowledge of this market, and even brings Tunisia excellent technological services in various areas: Tests and Laboratory Trials, Product and Process Engineering, Product Certification and Standardisation, R&D+Innovation, Fashion Intelligence and Training and Qualification

For the second time at this event, Lipaco continues to invest in even more technical products, both at the level of yarns and at the level of sewing threads. The emphasis is on Proteck-M, a fireproof line directed at safety clothing. Having a presence in this market has always been part of the strategy of the Portuguese company. "Our presence in the countries of the Maghreb was always part of our strategy, due to its proximity to Europe, the strong presence of textile in this part of the world and because the large warehouses that buy in Portugal and that already know us place their orders here. We want to make the most of these synergies", explains Jorge Pereira, Director of the company.

With a wide variety of products for underwear and lingerie, with special emphasis on high quality jacquard knits, Lunartex is making its début at Texmed. "Participating in this fair increases the commercial relationship with other markets, in the hope of increasing the sales volume from exports", explains Fernando Freitas, Director of the company.

Solinhas is bringing Texmed a wide range of products. The articles manufactured and sold by Solinhas come in over 2500 colours, produced with top quality raw materials. Highlighted will be the line of threads for sewing and embroidery.

The 14th edition of Texmed 2013 has a new organisational concept, a new approach to work, and an opening to international markets. The new display concept of Texmed is based on exhibition areas divided into "professional activities", which allows the event to present a richer and more diversified offering.

Participation by Portuguese companies in Texmed is an initiative of the Selectiva Moda Association, with the support of Compete and of NSRF, as part of the From Portugal project. The Selectiva Moda Association is an entity that promotes the globalisation of Portuguese companies and, for 2013, it has a programme of international activities in 35 different markets, aimed at the areas of yarns, fabrics and accessories, fashion, textiles for home furnishings and decoration, and technical textiles.
