The creativity of home textiles and decoration objects “made in Portugal” is on the spotlight in this edition of Maison & Objet, with contemporary design articles that combine innovation and tradition to produce exclusive and timeless pieces.

The creativity of home textiles and decoration objects “made in Portugal” is on the spotlight in this edition of Maison & Objet, with contemporary design articles that combine innovation and tradition to produce exclusive and timeless pieces.

Portuguese brands Home Concept, Lona, Têxteis Íris, Darono, Vianatece, Moi and Catari Not Absolut are in Paris in the main trade fair dedicated to decoration in the City of Light with proposals dominated by a sophisticated design and quality materials to well dress the house.

Debuting in the trade fair, at hall 6, Moi and Catari Not Absolut show fashion accessories in various materials. «Behind the object, we tried that it had a little of the Humanity and Portugal’s historic heritage, as if each person using a Catari accessory could take with it a piece of that fantastic story», unveils the designer Catarina Carvalho.

L3F Interior Design, with Darono brand, is for the first time in this trade fair «and the expectations are high», says the administrator Ana Freitas. «We want to understand what the receptivity of the brand and of the products we made is. In this context, we will be able to understand what motivates consumers and what he enjoy the must about our pieces: the touch, the colours, the materials or just the curiosity about the forms», she explains. A variety of design objects is on exhibition, to transmit «our ideology that it is crucial to value the objects that are with us daily in the different spaces», highlights Ana Freitas.

Brandão & Sequeira, on its side, shows Lona brand, with an offer of bags, pillows and a kitchen range produced based on the traditional canvas fabric. «We are also unveiling some partnerships that we have, namely on the conception and production of stonewear articles and a partnership with Crere – Museum of Plaster, which allowed us to develop new fabric pattern and, with it, to create original products», adds company’s general manager, Filipe Rodrigues. «This trade fair is of extreme importance to us, since it is an excellent window of our products to the world», he underlines regarding Maison & Objet.

In the offer of Vianatece, a regular presence at Maison & Objet since 2010, the spotlight is on the line Trança, «where we are introducing a kids’ collection», announces the administrator Sérgio Peixoto. The collection also proposes «four new colours, possible in all of our carpets and pillows», he says.

To dress the table, Têxteis Íris proposes damask linen towels, while for bed and bathroom, Home Concept presents a coordinated offer. «Keeping the shining satins, the magnificent jacquards, all in 100% Egyptian combed cotton, quilts, pyjamas and bath terry towels, the collection invites to the creation of an original look, mixing and coordinating the different pieces», explains brand manager Odília Costa, that also enhances the intense and vibrant colours – from silver and grey to gold – floral printings and minimalistic proposals as the autumn-winter highlights.

The participation of these Portuguese companies at Maison & Objet, which takes place September 6th - 10th, is an initiative promoted by Associação Selectiva Moda with the support of European funds (Qren), under the project From Portugal. This project includes more than 60 international actions planned for 2013, which cover the entire textile and fashion chain, from yarns to fabrics, apparel, technical textiles, home textiles and decoration, divided by four continents: Europe, Asia, Africa and America.
