Portuguese textiles launch new collections in London

It’s with eyes set on exports that the Portuguese textile industry presents itself, on July 16th and 17th, in another edition of The London Textile Fair, the main British trade show for the fashion and clothing industry. To attract the attention of international buyers, the Portuguese companies prepare the launch their new collections.

To enroot the Portuguese presence in the British industry is the main purpose of the Portuguese companies attending The London Textile Fair. From July 16th to 17th, the Portuguese textile industry will present new products, demonstrating once more the quality of the Made in Portugal.

6 Dias, Albano Morgado, Brito & Miranda, Burel Factory, José de Abreu & Filhos, Lemar, M.M.R.A & Filhos, Magma Têxtil, Rifel, Troficolor and Vilarinho are the companies present at Associação Selectiva Moda’s "From Portugal" entourage. Paulo de Oliveira, Penteadora and Riopele will also be at the show. At the London fair, the Portuguese companies will exhibit their products before an audience of thousands of the sector’s buyers, agents, distributors, designers and entrepreneurs.

"The UK is a relevant market with a strong connection to Portugal, where several international brands are based. The London Textile Fair is a showcase for our products and a privileged channel to contact with customers ", explains Ana Maria Magalhães, Troficolor’s representative, one of the companies present. With headquarters in Trofa and specialized in denims, the company will present several new products, especially sustainable articles, made from organic and recycled fibres.

Rifel is also preparing to present several new items. "We will have new fabrics, lace and prints, of various materials, especially for the couture market. One of our products is silk, which the British love", explains Ricardo Sousa, the company’s representative.

At José de Abreu & Filhos’ stand, the formal wear will be side by side with sportswear and workwear. "We will present linings and fabrics with various compositions, from polyester to cotton, and we have solutions for all markets – men, women and children," said José António, the company’s managing partner.

António Abreu, from Brito & Miranda, highlights the products that the market is currently looking for. "We are going to have a great winter collection, with knits for blazers, sweatshirts and polos, but we will also have some of last summer’s products because nowadays the collections are no longer so linear", explains the company’s representative, which will be present in the event for the 6th consecutive year.

The Portuguese companies participation in The London Textile Fair is an initiative of Selectiva Moda and ATP - Textile and Clothing Association of Portugal, which aims to promote the internationalization of Portuguese fashion companies. The project “From Portugal” is co-financed by Portugal 2020, under Compete 2020 - Operational Program for Competitiveness and Internationalization, with an eligible support amount of €12,118,285.17, of which €6,695,352.55 comes through the European Regional Development Fund.
