Always aiming at the foreign markets, the Portuguese fashion and clothing brands are marking their presence in more and more international trade shows. On February 10 and 11, it will be INDX Kidswear, in Birmingham, to welcome an entourage of Portuguese exhibitors, determined to showcase the latest trends in Portuguese children's fashion.

"This fair is directed to on-site orders, which is not very common nowadays, so we'll try to take advantage of all the contacts in order to increase our customer base and sales volume," explains Rodney Duarte, FS Baby’s Export Sales Manager. At INDX, the brand will present its new collection, which has also visited other European cities, with more than 200 new models and a strong bet on organic cotton.

Möm(e), the Portuguese brand with only eight months of existence, is also betting on the novelty factor to assert itself. "We are going to present a ready-to-wear collection for baby and children with timeless design models and colours and with a great concern for quality in finishes and materials" says Inês Camaño Garcia, the brand’s CEO.

At INDX Kidswear, the aim of the Portuguese brands is to win new clients internationally, especially in the UK and Ireland, strategic markets for the Portuguese aspirations. However, with Brexit placing a shadow on the state of affairs, the Portuguese exhibitors are essentially betting on local agents and partners who can offer guarantees for the future. "Given the uncertainty of the future Portugal-UK trade relations, it is essential to be able to count on the know-how of those who are involved in the market," explains Ines Garcia, from Möm(e).

The Portuguese companies participation in INDX Kidswear is an initiative of Selectiva Moda and ATP - Textile and Clothing Association of Portugal, which aims to promote the internationalization of Portuguese fashion companies. The project “From Portugal” is co-financed by Portugal 2020, under Compete 2020 - Operational Program for Competitiveness and Internationalization, with an eligible support amount of €12,118,285.17, of which €6,695,352.55 comes through the European Regional Development Fund.
