The Secretary of State for the Economy, João Neves, and the Secretary of State for Internationalization, Eurico Brilhante Dias, are going to visit the fair, at the invitation of ATP - Associação Têxtil e Vestuário de Portugal - on January 27th to get a closer look at the sector’s latest innovations.

The world of sport will be in full swing, from January 26th to 29th, in another edition of ISPO Munich, in Germany. In all, 2800 exhibitors from 120 different countries promise to unveil the biggest innovations at the Munich international fair, and the Portuguese entourage, represented by more than 30 companies, spread in four From Portugal islands, is no different.

Be Responsible, Be Active, Be Creative are the three core challenges launched by the ISPO Munich organization to exhibitors from around the world.

In line with these trends, the CITEVE research centre, in partnership with Selectiva Moda, will present in this edition of the fair, for the first time, the iTechStyle Green Circle Sport, a showcase of Portugal's innovative capacity in the fields of sustainability and in articles for sport and leisure (athleisure). This exhibition will include 15 sports products, all made from sustainable materials and through responsible processes.

CITEVE and ASM hope that this initiative will put the Portuguese skills in the spotlight, in line with what has already happened at Heimtextil, with iTechStyle Green Circle Home, and at Neonyt with iTechStyle Green Circle Fashion.

The fair will also include the presence of Confetil and Impetus, as well as the research centres CITEVE and CeNTI.

Already experienced at this fair, Helena Garcia, Bergand by Gulbena Sales Manager, hopes to “expand the customer base, and consolidate markets secured in previous editions. Buyers will be mostly from EU countries, but we would like to welcome some from the US”.

Debuting at ISPO Munich, Lunartex also intends to “establish a large network of companies that may be interested in our products, in countries such as Germany, Italy, the US etc.”, says Rui Lopes, export manager.

Also for the first time at the largest sports fair, Lusosocks, will “promote technical products for all types of sports”. Miguel Campos, the company CEO, says that they will present “a new patent and a new brand, and collections of technical products for sportswear and workwear”.

After being one of the ISPO BRANDNEW2020 award-winning brands, Sockapro has raised expectations in this edition of the Munich fair. António Patrício, the company’s managing partner, says that the brand "will launch a variety of models that go beyond the world of sports or football".

Returning to ISPO Munich after a few years of interregnum, Beppi will “present the winter 2020 collection, as well as to promote strongly our latest bet: the Breezy Rollers, a shoe with wheels”, reveals Hugo Silva, the company’s commercial director.

On the other hand, Afonso Duarte, J Caetano commercial director, present once more at ISPO, hopes to “be able to introduce the company’s products to other brands and buyers, especially in the European market”.

With a new collection of sustainable fabrics, Olmac CEO Orlando Miranda assumes that “the customer profile that visits the [ISPO] fair fits perfectly into the product areas we develop”.

With several participations in previous editions, Brandias admits that ISPO “makes us reach out to potential customers that would otherwise be difficult to contact”, summarizes the company’s CEO Gonçalo Serra.

Carvema also promises to present a lot of novelties at ISPO Munich. “We will present sustainable products such as organic and recycled, eco-viscose and lyocell, new mesh structures such as jacquard and fancy jersey, and a variety of functional finishes that add quality and comfort to our products”, describes José Carvalho, the company’s managing partner.

With its eyes set on new market segments, Lemar says that the priority is “the use of certified yarns in our fabrics, thus ensuring more quality and durability”. Market manager José António Ferreira hopes to “capitalize the existing contacts, and use the tools we have to reach new customers”.

Alexandra Araújo, from LMA, says the goal is to “manage sales leads with customers who already know us, and build relationships with potential customers”, always with the idea that sustainability “is a critical evolution and the way to the future and to the longevity of the textile and clothing industry”, she states.

Paulo Rodrigues, Fiorima industrial director, reveals that the company is “permanently developing new products, both in terms of technical nature and in the raw materials used”, so they brought a lot of innovation into another edition of Munich’s sports fair.

Innovation is also the watchword for Clothius Seamless, which, according to Jorge Vale, the company's manager, brings to ISPO “seamless gym wear collections”.

Easy Walking Experience, on the other hand, will present “a sporty, minimalist design, very versatile in use, which won three international design awards for three consecutive years,” announces Elio Parodi, the company’s CEO.

The biggest highlight will be the SI Repel Mosquito – which offers protection against mosquitoes and other insects resistant to more than 100 washes, and that has been much sought after by outdoor brands –, and the SI Bac-Pure, for its effective antibacterial and antifungal ability, which contributes to neutralizing odours, an important factor in sports/active wear articles”, unveils Mário Brito, Smart Inovation's commercial director, for whom 2020 is the year for consolidation.

Without hiding the high expectations, Rui Gordalina, Oldtrading CEO, considers ISPO Municha highly visible international fair, where sportswear stands out. Our goal is to attract new customers who need value-added products in private label solutions”.

The Portuguese companies participation in ISPO Munich is an initiative of Selectiva Moda and ATP - Textile and Clothing Association of Portugal, which aims to promote the internationalization of Portuguese fashion companies. The project “From Portugal” is co-financed by Portugal 2020, under Compete 2020 - Operational Program for Competitiveness and Internationalization, with an eligible support amount of €11.042.311,82, of which €6.065.501,91 comes through the European Regional Development Fund.
