From Portugal Textiles bet again in Magic Las Vegas

From August 11th to 14th, the Portuguese industry will be betting on innovation, design and technology at Magic Las Vegas and Liberty, one of the most prominent textile fairs in the American continent. Determined to conquer new markets, the From Portugal delegation promises to present many novelties and make clear the excellence of the Portuguese production.


Over the course of four days, the entire international textile industry will be focused on Las Vegas. The famous "Sin City" will host, from August 11th to 14th, another edition of Magic and liberty, one of the most important fairs of the American continent, where the sector’s main novelties will be presented. The Portuguese colours are once again highlighted by the presence of a strong From Portugal delegation, determined to show the best of the Portuguese textile industry.

Faria da Costa, Haiiro, Qvinto, Sancar Socks, Scaap and Scoop are the companies that make up the Associação Selectiva Moda’s “From Portugal” entourage, one more step to promote the Portuguese industry in foreign markets. At the North American fair, the Portuguese companies will have the opportunity to showcase their products near an audience of thousands of visitors, from international distributors and agents to shopkeepers and department store buyers. At the Las Vegas Convention Center and Venetian Hotel, the crème de la crème of the North American textile and clothing industry – as well as from all over the world – is expected.

“We look forward to meeting customers from the United States, but also from the Canadian and South American markets. Our focus is to find middle-class clients to whom price is not an issue,” says Nuno Costa, CEO of Faria da Costa, one of the companies present. At the North American fair, the textile from Barcelos seeks to win fresh customers, and is preparing to present a selection of new articles, especially wools, designed for the colder seasons.

“In Las Vegas our goal is to internationalize our business. We already sell to some North American customers, but we want to strengthen our presence in the country. That's why we decided to participate in this fair,” says Suzana Gonçalves, founder of Haiiro, a women’s clothing and footwear brand. At Magic Las Vegas, the designer will present a new summer collection, combining various materials, like knits, fabrics, and leather.

“New doors need to be opened and the North American market is a very large one,” reiterates Manuel Anjo, founder of Sancar Socks. With a wide range of products, the company specialized in socks will present “a little of everything” in Las Vegas, but especially casual fashion, for both men and women.

The Portuguese companies participation in Magic Las Vegas is an initiative of Selectiva Moda and ATP - Textile and Clothing Association of Portugal, which aims to promote the internationalization of Portuguese fashion companies. The project “From Portugal” is co-financed by Portugal 2020, under Compete 2020 - Operational Program for Competitiveness and Internationalization, with an eligible support amount of €12,118,285.17, of which €6,695,352.55 comes through the European Regional Development Fund.
