Fashion From Portugal sets new trends in Paris
Paris, the eternal capital of fashion, will host from January 17th to 20th a reinforced entourage of Portuguese brands. With three fairs taking place simultaneously - Who's Next, SIL/Interfilière and Man – this is an outstanding opportunity for the Portuguese industry to present the best of what is done in Portugal in the clothing and fashion multiple areas.

Three fairs taking place at the same time, which promise to catch the eye of the entire international fashion industry. Porte de Versailles, in Paris, will host another edition of Who's Next, SIL/Interfilière and Man, each dedicated to different clothing sectors.
On board of the From Portugal delegation, put together by Associação Selectiva Moda, the Portuguese industry will have a strong representation of companies and brands in the three events.
Blackspider, Faroma/Paul Brial, Flor da Moda, Givec, Luís Buchinho, Têxteis Cães de Pedra and Valérius will attend Who's Next, a show that addresses the various sectors of fashion. Iora Lingerie and Lunartex will mark their place at SIL/Interfilière, dedicated to the world of lingerie and homewear. At Man Paris, Portugal will be represented by the brand +351 and the young designers Nycole, David Catalán and Estelita Mendonça.
“Paris is still the epicentre of fashion, attracting a lot of international customers,” says designer Luís Buchinho. Present at Who’s Next with his own brand, the designer will present a new fall/winter collection. “It's a season particularly strong for us, accounting for about 80% of our sales. We will introduce a new line of coats, jackets, trench-coats, sweaters, blouses, knits, dresses, pants and accessories,” explains the designer, adding that he already has some meetings scheduled with regular customers.
At Valérius stand, the attention will be focused on the Concreto brand. “We will be presenting our winter 2021 collection, but right now we have no great expectations because the markets are so uncertain. We hope customers will continue to bet on the made in Portugal label”, says Teresa Marques Pereira, Concreto CEO. A regular presence at Who’s Next, the brand already has scheduled meetings with customers from Hong Kong and from several international department stores.
At SIL/Interfilière, the Portuguese colours will be represented by Iora Lingerie and Lunartex. “We will present several novelties, such as a new collection of lingerie and nightwear, more modern and geared towards new audiences,” says Iora Lingerie Director-General Cristina Flores. Already with 15 years of experience at the fair, the head of the women's underwear brand has no doubt in stating that "this is the best and most important international fair", and the hopes are to expand the company’s range of international customers.
At Man Paris, oriented towards men's designer fashion, +351 also expects to sign new customers. “We want to find customers from the French, UK and Japanese markets. We will present a new collection that has several new features: knitwear, vests and trousers in wool,” says the brand’s founder, Ana Penha e Costa.
Expectations are also high for Brandin, the platform responsible for the brands David Catalán, Estelita Mendonça and Nycole. “We participated in the previous edition, with very positive results for a first presence, and now we have three very strong brands. Our main focus is the Asian and American markets, which have a higher purchasing power and demand for alternative streetwear brands,” explains Carla Reis, Brandin head of sales.
The Portuguese companies participation in Who’s Next, SIL/Interfilière and Man is an initiative of Selectiva Moda and ATP - Textile and Clothing Association of Portugal, which aims to promote the internationalization of Portuguese fashion companies. The project “From Portugal” is co-financed by Portugal 2020, under Compete 2020 - Operational Program for Competitiveness and Internationalization, with an eligible support amount of €11.042.311,82, of which €6.065.501,91 comes through the European Regional Development Fund.
