TRIO OF PORTUGUESE BRANDS IN FLORENCE

Florence is again the international capital of children's fashion, hosting the 96th edition of Pitti Bimbo, the most iconic fair in the sector, from the 18th to the 20th of January. DR. KID, FS BABY, and NATURA PURA – are the 3 Portuguese companies participating, as part of an initiative carried out by Associação Selectiva Moda within the scope of the From Portugal internationalization project.

Between the 18th and 20th of January, another edition of Pitti Bimbo takes place in Florence. This edition has the presence of three Portuguese companies within the scope of the From Portugal internationalization project: Dr. Kid, FS Baby, and Natura Pura.

Participating since 2013 and already a veteran at Pitti Bimbo, FS Baby has no doubts about the importance of this event in the universe of children's fashion. And focused on sustainability: "we are going to present the new SS24 autumn/winter collection", says Rodney Duarte, representative of the brand. “We aim to strengthen relationships with existing customers and increase sales volume with new customers”, adds Rodney Duarte.

DR.KID is also back on the Italian market and will present the Autumn-Winter 2023 collection for newborns, babies, and children, following its DNA but with a more casual line than usual. “Following general fashion trends, we will present a greater representation of the color black and different materials such as poly skin, printed yarn, and lurex. However, there is a concern about using “healthy” raw materials for children. Especially with incidence on wool/cashmere and 100% cotton”, explains Manuela Sena, commercial manager. Based on the prospecting carried out, “we indicate a drop in visitors, at an international level, informing that maybe in the next edition, they will attend. Therefore, we await with some anxiety what will happen in this edition”, adds Manuela Sena.

Also in the baby sector and with increasingly ecological proposals will be Natura Pura, which welcomes winter 2024 with a collection that explores textures, shapes, and comfort under an organic cotton base. The new collection is nature-inspired “heralds the arrival of winter characterized by traditional flannels and fluff characterize it. Those characteristics promise warmth, in a unique combination with detailed knits, perfect for cold winter days” explains Mónica Sendas, who underlines that "in this event, we are hoping to regain the Italian market share we had before the pandemic”.

The participation of Portuguese SME companies in Pitti Bimbo is an initiative of Selectiva Moda and ATP – Portuguese Textile and Clothing Association, which aims to promote the internationalization of Portuguese companies in the Textile sector. Pitti Bimbo is in the “From Portugal” project, within the scope of the candidacy presented by joint projects for the Internationalization of Portugal 2030.
