MILAN UNICA WELCOMES A STRONG PORTUGUESE COMMITTEE

Albano Morgado, Anbievolution, Brito Knitting, Fitecom, Le Europe / La Estampa, Lemar, Modelmalhas and RDD are the companies that make up the FROM PORTUGAL entourage, which together with the Portuguese Adalberto Estampados, Riopele, Paulo de Oliveira, Penteadora, Tessimax, Somelos Tecidos and TMG Textiles will be present at yet another edition of Milano Unica, on February 1st and 2nd, at RHO Milano Fiera, the fairgrounds of the Italian city.

With the goal of “expanding our participation in this very strategic market for the Fashion Industry”, Adalberto returns in this edition to Milano Unica after more than five years away. “We are confident that the market is eager for novelties, and, therefore, we believe that we will encounter good business opportunities in the Italian market”, explains Tâmara Martins, from Adalberto’s sales department, justifying the return to the fair.

In addition to the Spring-Summer 2023 collection, where it will present its print fabrics proposals, Adalberto takes to Milano Única “three capsule collections with innovative raw materials, printing techniques using natural pigments, and functional finishes”, enumerates Tâmara Martins.

An absolute debut, La Europe / La Estampa decided to say “yes” to the renowned Italian fair in order to win a larger customer base in this market. To do so, and according to Joana Silva, from the company Satinskin, which owns the brands, “an online service platform, new bases and different commercial options” will be the highlight presented in Milan.

A veteran at Milano Única, Lemar, which has a very significant share of its turnover in the Italian market, is excited about the February 2022 edition. “The sector is very eager to return to normal, and restart its activity. The online is important, but complementary in a sector in which the senses are still the main differentiator”, defends Rita Fonseca, who will take to Milan the largest and most comprehensive collection of sustainable fabrics produced at Lemar, where the recycled polyester and polyamide, and the biodegradable options will be “the stars of the season”.

Creativity is, in the opinion of Dolores Gouveia, Marketing and Design Manager at RDD, one of the keys to the company’s regular participation in Milano Única. “It’s always very positive, given that we are always able to present creative sustainable meshes – a fundamental criterion for this market –, which pleases brands that want to position themselves as influencers”, defends Dolores Gouveia.

On this return to Milan, RDD will bring a range of new products, with special a highlight to the “novelties with Lyocell Bamboo, Seacell, Orange, Pineapple and Banana, as well as new-generation artificial blends with Flax or Hemp”. The company will also introduce its Circulose range, regenerated fibres produced from cotton waste, and the new RDD x Valérius 360 collection.

Participating in the event for the consecutive year, Fitecom considers Milano Única “a direct gateway to the Italian market, namely for the mid-high market segment, in which we operate. It is also an important showcase for Asian markets, as well as for our traditional markets”, states João Carvalho, Fitecom’s CEO. At the event, the company will present at fine fabrics made with natural and biodegradable fibres, as well as a range of recycled synthetic fibres.

The participation of Portuguese SME companies in MILANO ÚNICA is framed by the From Portugal project, an initiative of Selectiva Moda and ATP - Textile and Clothing Association of Portugal, which aims to promote the internationalization of Portuguese companies in the fashion area. The “From Portugal” project is co-financed by Portugal 2020, within the scope of Compete 2020 - Operational Program for Competitiveness and Internationalization, with an eligible support amount of € 11,042,311.82, of which € 6,065,501.91 comes from the European Union, through the European Regional Development Fund.
