From Portugal textiles with enhanced area at Europe's largest protective clothing fair

More innovative, sustainable and increasingly prominent in international markets. The Portuguese textile industry has a reinforced area in the next edition of A+A, Europe's largest protective clothing fair, taking place in Dusseldorf from November 5th to 8th. From raw materials to protective workwear, the From Portugal delegation promises to introduce several revolutionary technologies.

It’s a much awaited moment for the international industry. Held only every two years in Dusseldorf, A+A is Europe’s largest protective clothing fair. A market where the Portuguese industry is becoming more prominent, betting on Innovation and Development, and entwining companies with technology centres.

The German fair itself will be an example of such cooperation between entrepreneurs and researchers. The From Portugal space, which will occupy a significantly larger area this year, is the result of a joint effort between Associação Selectiva Moda and CITEVE. Aboard this reinforced Portuguese promotion will be the companies A.Sampaio & Filhos, ASC Moldes, Artefita, Axfilia, Carite, Fall Safe, Heliotextil, HR Protection, Sancar, Trotinete, Ultra Creative and Unifardas, each with innovative projects and novelties for the workwear and protective clothing sector. The company’s Penteadora and Endutex will join this vast From Portugal entourage.

“The A+A is a reference in the Protection clothing sector. We have been developing products that target this market segment, so it is an excellent opportunity to broaden our range of partners ”, explains Nuno Félix, Sales Manager of Sancar, a company that will be present in the German fair for the first time.

With the eyes of the international industry placed in Dusseldorf, the Portuguese delegation bets on presenting novelties. “Participating in A+A involves a lot of work,” explains Jan Ekman, Fall Safe Director, who is preparing to introduce three new product catalogues for work at height. “We have three product ranges: one for extreme work, one Basic Comfort for non-heavy work, and one for occasional use,” explains the manager.

Also considering extreme conditions, the HR Group is preparing to present different ranges of workwear. “We have solutions for work in negative temperatures, for heat and flame and for many other markets, such as high visibility, electrostatics and welding,” explains Fernando Mateus, the company's CEO.

In the same area, Unifardas prepares in detail what will be its first presence, not only at A+A, but at an international fair. “Unifardas is developing its own products and collections for overseas markets with all the features required in a quality brand,” announced the company.

Ultra Creative, in its turn, will be focused mainly on services and retail. "We will present workwear for hotels, supermarkets, chain stores like Leroy Merlin or MediaMarket, carriers, etc.", said António José Ferreira, the company’s representative, who already has meetings scheduled with two new customers.

Regarding raw materials, A.Sampaio & Filhos will present a new range of Protection+ meshes, with several certified solutions. “It's an opportunity to showcase our products to potential new customers. However, we also have meetings with our regular clients. Regarding geographical areas, Europe is the most important market for us, but it’s not the only one,” explains João Mendes, the company’s director.

In the accessories department, Artefita hopes to take advantage of A+A to get closer to this very specialized market. “The protection sector is one of several that we serve through our textile tape solutions, and it’s a market with growth potential. In addition, the demand for safety wear is increasing, so it makes sense for us to attend an event dedicated to this sector,” reiterates João Silva, the company's marketing director.

The Portuguese companies participation in A+A is an initiative of Associação Selectiva Moda and ATP - Textile and Clothing Association of Portugal, which aims to promote the internationalization of Portuguese fashion companies. The project “From Portugal” is co-financed by Portugal 2020, under Compete 2020 - Operational Program for Competitiveness and Internationalization, with an eligible support amount of €12,118,285.17, of which €6,695,352.55 comes through the European Regional Development Fund.
