Double Power for the Portuguese Fashion at Who's Next Paris

Portugal will be in the spotlight at the next edition of Who’s Next Paris, one of Europe's premier clothing and fashion shows, taking place in the French capital from September 6th to 9th. In addition to the strong presence of companies and Portuguese designers, the Portuguese fashion will also have a new area entitled “MADE by Portugal”.

Portuguese designers and manufactures travel side by side to Paris to partake in yet another edition of Who’s Next, one of the most iconic fashion and clothing events in Europe. From September 6th to 9th, the international industry will be meeting at Porte de Versailles to define the main trends for the upcoming seasons.

An extended entourage - that also includes Lion of Porches - where diversity is king, bringing together the country’s established names with new generation designers.

This year's edition of Who's Next is marked by a new sourcing area entitled “MADE by Portugal”, where the stands of Flor da Moda, Faroma, My Shirt and Valérius will be gathered. With this highlight, the Portuguese manufacturing will be able to attract even more attention from the market’s main buyers.

“We consider Who's Next a true meeting place. We already have several meetings scheduled, and we’re always visited by clients from overseas markets. Hong Kong, Japan, Lebanon, Mexico, Tahiti, French Guiana, among others, always visit us at this fair”, explains Teresa Marques Pereira, general manager of Concreto, a clothing brand of the Valérius group, which will present a new collection.

The designer Luís Buchinho also has no doubt about the importance of the Parisian fair to establish contacts on a global scale. “Paris is still the epicentre of fashion, attracting a lot of international customers, and we already have scheduled meetings with our regular clients. At this moment we work with various markets, but the Asian and American markets have a stronger weight in our total transactions,” he adds. Already preparing the next season, the designer will present a new collection, which includes coats, jackets, trench-coats, jumpers and other pieces.

The brands Blackspider and Cristina Barros also promise to present a lot of novelties in Paris. “We will present the spring/summer 2020 collection, where the highlight is the sustainable raw materials combined in cheerful colours,” explains Marco Costa, commercial manager. In addition to the French market, which already has four commercials working exclusively, the two brands are especially betting in the Middle East, where they have registered a continuous growth over the last years.

Taking part in the event for the first time, the company My Shirt is determined to make a difference and take new steps into internationalization. “We are sure that this market is a point of reference in the fashion world. So, we believe that we will be visited by several countries interested in importing new trends and collections,” says Gil Ferreira, the company’s International Relations.

The Portuguese companies participation in Who’s Next is an initiative of Selectiva Moda and ATP - Textile and Clothing Association of Portugal, which aims to promote the internationalization of Portuguese fashion companies. The project “From Portugal” is co-financed by Portugal 2020, under Compete 2020 - Operational Program for Competitiveness and Internationalization, with an eligible support amount of €12,118,285.17, of which €6,695,352.55 comes through the European Regional Development Fund.
