Reaching new markets and deepening Portugal’s image as an excellence producer are the main goals of the Portuguese delegation at ColombiaModa, one of the greatest textile and clothing fairs, not only in Latin America, but in the whole world. During three days, from July 23rd to 25th, international markets will be meeting in Medellin, and the Portuguese industry promises to stand out by presenting its novelties.

Baby Gi, Carvalho, Dr. Kid, Meia Pata, Montra Sensata/Meyer-Hosen, Nosdil, Phiclothing, Pureté and Wedoble are the companies and brands that make up the "From Portugal" entourage, put together by Associação Selectiva Moda. Dielmar, Overstate and Suave will also be showcasing at the Medellin. With high expectations, the Portuguese exhibitors see ColombiaModa as one huge step towards internationalization.

"ColombiaModa is an important entryway to the Latin American market. In addition to Colombian clients, we also find many clients from equally interesting markets such as Chile, Panama and even Mexico and Brazil," explains Márcia Pacheco, the Wedoble brand manager. With the desire to establish new commercial ties, the brand will present at the fair a new spring/summer collection, with 100% organic cotton knitwear and designs for babies up to 24 months in fresh and colorful fabrics.

Pureté du Bebé, present for the first time in ColombiaModa, will also try to attract attention by presenting some novelties. "This will be our first approach to the Colombian market, and we will present our spring/summer 2020 collection for kids from age 0 to 36 months," said Sara Silva, Brand Manager. Having the babygrows as the main highlight, the brand will present several thematic segments, with hopes of winning over new store owners.

Alfredo Moreira, from Baby Gi, is also placing great expectations in the South American fair. "We already have an agent and distributor in Colombia, and we think it is a market with enormous potential for growth and a good way to enter South America," explains the brand representative. Specialized in baby clothes, at ColombiaModa the company will present a new collection designed for the summer of 2020.

The Portuguese companies participation in ColombiaModa is an initiative of Selectiva Moda and ATP - Textile and Clothing Association of Portugal, which aims to promote the internationalization of Portuguese fashion companies. The project “From Portugal” is co-financed by Portugal 2020, under Compete 2020 - Operational Program for Competitiveness and Internationalization, with an eligible support amount of €12,118,285.17, of which €6,695,352.55 comes through the European Regional Development Fund.
