That innovative capacity will be the highlight of the Portuguese entourage in Frankfurt, ready to attend, between May 14th and 17th, two fairs simultaneously: Techtextil, dedicated to innovative products, and Texprocess, devoted to textile machinery.

A.Sampaio & Filhos, Artefita, Bolsibotão, Carlos Sousa, Carlom, Coltec, Fitexar, Foot by Foot, Gulbena, Heliotextil, Idepa, MCS, Lasembor, Lipaco, LMA, Smart Inovation and Têxteis Penedo are the companies that make up the "From Portugal" entourage, and are joined by the companies ERT, Endutex, CITEVE, CeNTI, Cordex, Inovafil, SGL Carbon and Penteadora, which will travel to Frankfurt individually.

The Portuguese exhibitors in Frankfurt will also count with the visit of the Portuguese State Secretary for Economic Affairs, João Correia das Neves. The presence of the governor, which was invited by ATP – The Portuguese Textile and clothing association, is scheduled for May 15th. The Portuguese Ambassador in Berlin, João Gomes, will accompany the state secretary in his visit. On the same day, a promotional event will be held in the framework of the "Fashion From Portugal 4.0" project, with a presentation focused on high-tech textiles. In addition to João Correia Neves and João Gomes, the Secretary of State for Internationalization, Eurico Brilhante Dias, and the President of AICEP, Castro Henriques, are also invited to the event.

Held every two years, the fairs attract the attention of the entire international community, which meets with the German city to learn about the most promising innovations in the textile world. A moment of crucial importance is foreseen for all Portuguese exhibitors.

"The national industry is investing more and more in innovation and the fair has become essential for all companies that want to present new solutions, especially because it reaches very different industries", says Cristina Terra da Motta, the representative in Portugal of Messe Frankfurt, the event’s organizer.

Most of the "From Portugal" entourage will be present at the Techtextil space. CITEVE will once again be present at this fair, considered the most important ones in the area of Technical Textiles, covering CITEVE’s important areas of activity: Mobility, Habitat, Sport, Health and Protection. It is, thus, a great opportunity to reinforce its position as a Technological Interface Center of reference in the international scenario.

As an international reference, both fairs usually attract more than 30 thousand visitors, coming from around the world. "The volume and variety of visitors allows us to project ourselves internationally in more comprehensive markets," stresses Hugo Resende, Carlos Sousa Indústria’s commercial manager, a company specialized in polyester and polypropylene tapes.

"It is a landmark event in the field of technical textiles and textile innovation," says João Silva, Artefita's Marketing Director, one of the companies present at Techtextil. "In our case, the fair is a way to materialize our commitment to always be where the state of the art is," he concludes.

Operating in the same market, Idepa reiterates the event’s importance. "Techtextil, as a trade show, meets the market segment we define as our target – the Technical segment,” explains Ana Paula Pires, the company market manager.

In an event so crucial and facing such a varied audience, the Portuguese exhibitors are betting on presenting some novelties. An example is Gulbena, who will present a new collection of recycled functional fabrics, in addition to an innovative technique of digital printing in polyamide.

Coltec is also preparing to introduce a wide range of innovative products. "We will introduce new products with different technical solutions for the area of laminates, with membranes and films. We will also present the first industrial prototypes of our new technology for hot-melt coatings in home textile products ", announces Francisco Fernandes, the company’s Technical Manager.

Têxteis Penedo, winner of several innovation awards over the last few years, will also be present in Frankfurt, ready to present the award-winning products to customers from all over the world. "Some of our most innovative products will be presented, with the highlight being placed at Cork-a-Tex", says Agostinho Afonso, the company’s representative, referring to an innovative project that allows the use of cork to coat textile yarns.

Besides the innovative products, Portugal will also show that it has a say in the textile machinery industry. In short, the whole "From Portugal" entourage has great expectations for the two fairs in Frankfurt. "It's an opportunity to get to know the big international trends, get acquainted with the latest innovations and to be around the sector’s main companies," summarizes André Castro, MCS’s Chief Operating Officer.
