Portugueses children's fashion takes big leap in Florence

To get further and reach new markets is the goal of the Portuguese brands that, between January 17th and 19th, will be present at Pitti Bimbo’s 88th edition. In Florence, under the "From Portugal" project, the Portuguese companies will present their new collections and show the most sophisticated and creative side of children's fashion.

Each day more original and imaginative, the Portuguese children's fashion brands continue to step forcefully into internationalization. On January 17th, 18th and 19th, a Portuguese delegation of companies mark their presence at Pitti Bimbo, in Florence, one of the sector’s main international fairs. At the event, they will have the opportunity to present their collections and promote the Portuguese fashion.

Dr. Kid, FS Baby, Knot, Meia Pata, Natura Pura and Phi Clothing
are the Portuguese representatives at the Italian fair, an entourage put together under the Associação Selectiva Moda’s "From Portugal" project. Throughout the three-day event, representatives of the Portuguese brands will be able to contact with buyers and commercial agents coming from around the world.

In Florence will be gathered all the children's fashion big names. "Pitti Bimbo is the biggest European storefront, so it's an almost mandatory presence if we want to sell globally," said Carla Areal, Meia Pata’s CEO. At the fair, the brand specialized in socks and tights will present a few surprises, namely its first line of coats, caps and scarves.

Specialized in baby clothes, FS Baby’s commercial stand will be filled with novelties. "We are going to present the new Autumn/Winter collection with about 200 new articles and maintain our bet in 100% organic cotton models" says Rodney Duarte, the company’s Export Sales Manager.

At Natura Pura, sustainability and new materials are part of a well-defined strategy. "We are increasingly concerned about the babies’ well-being and health. The best alternative resides on organic cotton", explains Mónica Sendas, the company’s director of distribution. In Florence, the brand will present a new collection, inspired by the tales of Hans Christian Andersen.

With their new collections, the Portuguese brands expect to win customers and increase their presence in foreign markets. "We have been growing, but we want to continue the work. The goal is to increase the number of customers and to retain the existing ones ", summarizes Rita Roxo, Knot’s Sales Manager.

Phi Clothing is also focused on winning the customers loyalty. "Of course we are always looking for new customers, but our priority is to increase our presence in the markets where we already established, such as Italy, the United Kingdom or the Middle East," explains Filipa Moreira, the brand’s founder.

The Portuguese companies participation in Pitti Bimbo is an initiative of Selectiva Moda and ATP - Textile and Clothing Association of Portugal, which aims to promote the internationalization of Portuguese fashion companies. The project “From Portugal” is co-financed by Portugal 2020, under Compete 2020 - Operational Program for Competitiveness and Internationalization, with an eligible support amount of €12,118,285.17, of which €6,695,352.55 comes through the European Regional Development Fund.
