After the summer, and with the batteries all charged up, Selectiva Moda’s "From Portugal" project begins a new cycle of international fairs. In the coming weeks, the national textile delegation will be present in the main European stages, with the aim of continuing the internationalization of the Portuguese industry. The kick-off is this Tuesday, September 4, at the Munich Fabric Start, where 20 thousand visitors are expected.

In order to show the best of the portuguese production in the fabrics and textile accessories department, the Portuguese delegation will count with the participation of the f Portuguese companies A. Sampaio & Filhos, Albano Morgado, Fashion Details, J.Areal, Luís Azevedo, Lurdes Sampaio, M.M.R.A, Modelmalhas, RDD, Sanmartin, Sidónios Malhas, Texser, Tintex, Trimalhas, Consifex, Lima & Companhia e Top Trends. Furthermore, alongside with the Portuguese companies, the technological institute CITEVE will present an innovative showcase.

The Munich trade fair is one of the international markets main references and Portuguese companies seek to stand out by presenting some new products. A paradigmatic example is Tintex, which already had its products awarded in some of the fair’s previous editions. The Vila Nova de Cerveira’s company maintains its commitment to innovation and sustainability and will present a new product in Munich. "Our core strategy is to combine responsible and quality-recognized raw materials with traceable and reliable technologies and processes. This will be the season in which we will present our Naturally Clean technology in more detail", says Ricardo Silva, Tintex’s Head of Operations.

Sustainability it’s also RDD’s main motto. With a new collection based on natural, organic and recycled articles, the company gives special attention to the new generation artificial fibres such as Tencel, Refibra and Viscose Ecovero. "The focus of the collection are the new consumers and brands that care about fashion, but are also aware of sustainability" explains Elsa Parente, Business Development Manager at RDD.

Sanmartin is another great example of the innovative vein that characterizes the entire Portuguese ITV: "The products that we will present at the Munich Fabric Start are part of the new collection and will be, without a doubt, a surprise. We will present very bold and elaborate fabrics, with a lot of details, that will make a very interesting reading of the haute couture’s new trends", says Nuno Lemos, the company’s General Manager.

With the purpose of increasing its international presence, Lurdes Sampaio expects busy days, especially because several visits from clients are already scheduled: "We already have meetings scheduled and the goal is to consolidate our position with our customers and try to attract new clients and new markets", explains João Ribeiro, Lurdes Sampaio's International Market Manager.

This year, the fair’s organization unites the sourcing sector to the fair’s main ground and that represents a new attractive for the Portuguese companies. For that reason, Lima & Companhia, one of the Portuguese representatives present at Munich Fabric Start, leaves for Munich with renewed expectations: "Because of the fair’s sourcing aspect, it makes sense for us to be present and to present the various solutions and internal resources that our company can offer", says Márcia Cortinhas, representative of the Vila Nova de Famalicão’s textile.

Top Trends also wants to take advantage of the fair’s Sourcing sector to strengthen its approach to the German market. Daniel Simões, Director of Marketing and Sales, looks to the German market as a space of great potential for the company. "It's a very important market for its solidity and confidence" he explains.

In addition to the large number of companies present, the Portuguese representation in Munich will be crowned by CITEVE's innovation showcase. The Portuguese technological centre, which travelled to the Munich at the fair’s invitation, organized an area entitled "iTechStyle FROM PORTUGAL", where pieces of Portuguese designers – made with innovative fabrics – will be presented.

Anbievolution by Luis Andrade, Gierlings Velpor, Paulo de Oliveira, Penteadora, Riopele, Somelos Tecidos, Tessimax, Orfama and S M Senra will also be present at the show.
