FASHION SVP WELCOMES PORTUGUESE COMPANIES

From 16 to 18 January, Olympia, in London, is hosting yet another edition of Fashion SVP, where 16 Portuguese companies will be making their presence felt, 15 of which are supported by the Selectiva Moda Association, as part of the From Portugal globalisation project. With the aim of winning over the British market, these Portuguese companies will present, over two days, the best of what is made in Portugal.

Bergand by Gulbena - Confenix - Custoitex - East Ocean – Fepratex – Intecol - Island Cosmos - Light Wear – Luipex - Miel à Moi – OSDM – Soeiro – Teamstone – Triwool - Yesterday and Tomorrow – are the 15 companies heading to this London fair, with the support of the Selectiva Moda Association.

A regular presence at this fair, Bergand by Gulbena will be making its 5th appearance at this edition. The brand’s main objectives are to “attract new clients and strengthen its ties with already existing ones” according to Helena Garcia, who heads the sales department. They will be highlighting the use of new technical raw material.

The United Kingdom’s market already represents a rather significant share of Intecol sales turnover. It will be participating at this event for the second time. “We seek to strengthen our position in the United Kingdom’s market, in line with our growth strategy. Although Intecol has its own brand – LADY SUZY – it has decided on the strategy of entering the market as a private label supplier, as the United Kingdom market has traditionally been home to all the leading international fashion brands who seek suppliers for production under their logo”, explains Célia Macedo, the company’s CCO.

At its début at Fashion SVP, Island Cosmos feels that “the British market has enough potential for the brand”. On display will be ready to wear and sports items. “We wish to expand our base of clients in the manufacturing sector, fulfilling their needs, while also gaining recognition and a reputation”, says Ana Rita Augusto.

For Dina Alemão, manager of Teamstone, “the importance of this fair is due to the fact that it focuses on a market close to the Portuguese market, both in geographic as well as cultural terms. It is further valued as it happens at a time that coincides with the launch of homewear collections”. In the spotlight will be the new collection of Clair by TeamStone, where products will be presented in the sleepwear and homewear categories, as well as bath and Spa, together with the recycled range, as well as all these products under Private Label.“We also hope to expand our market presence, in order to establish new partnerships while also promoting the made in Portugal”, she adds.

There is a wide and diverse range of products on offer at the event, since the fair has experienced significant growth from edition to edition. Of note is the extensive programme of seminars - Sourcing Briefing - with the presence of excellent speakers, who will talk about topics relevant to the segment.

One more Portuguese company will also be exhibiting: Tiva.

The participation of these 15 Portuguese companies at Fashion SVP is an initiative promoted by Selectiva Moda and ATP - Associação Têxtil e Vestuário de Portugal (Portuguese Textile and Clothing Association), which aims to promote the internationalisation of Portuguese companies in the fashion area. The From Portugal project is co-financed by Portugal 2020, under Compete 2020 - Operational Programme for Competitiveness and Internationalisation. The value of the eligible support totals EUR 12,118,285.17, of which EUR 6,695,352.55 are provided by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund.
